NEW POSTING 2026: Tree Climber / Aerial Tree Surgeon

📍 Cork City & County 📋 Full-time, Permanent 📅 February 2026

We are seeking experienced and safety-conscious Tree Climbers to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role involving aerial tree surgery, machinery operation, and daily physical work across varied sites throughout County Cork.

The Role

As a Tree Climber with Cork Tree Services, you'll carry out a wide range of arboricultural work to a high standard, working as part of a close-knit team. The role involves physical exertion, working at height, and operating specialist equipment daily.

Key duties include:

  • Performing climbing and aerial tree surgery operations
  • Operating chainsaws, chippers, and other arborist equipment safely
  • Tree maintenance including pruning, crown reduction, and removals
  • Tree and shrub planting
  • Conducting tree inspections and hazard assessments
  • Working collaboratively with ground crew and site managers
  • Ensuring site safety for colleagues and the public
  • Care and maintenance of plant and machinery
  • Representing the company professionally with clients on site

Requirements

✓ Essential

  • Valid Safe Pass certificate
  • Manual Handling certificate
  • Full driving licence
  • NPTC Level 2 Ground-based chainsaw operator
  • NPTC Level 2 Tree climbing and aerial rescue
  • NPTC Level 3 Aerial cutting with chainsaw
    (free-fall techniques)
  • NPTC Level 2 Safe use of manually fed woodchipper
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to safety

+ Desirable

  • B+E licence or tractor experience
  • MEWP (cherry picker) ticket
  • First Aid training
    (Forestry First Aid preferred)
  • Knowledge of tree species and disease identification
  • Previous experience in arboriculture
